A Milestone in the Methodist Church
31 August - 2 September 2007

31 August 2007 finally arrived! And the Methodist Prayer Convention 2007 has gone underway. It was the culmination of more than one and half years of planning that began in early 2006. The registration of 3900 participants surpassed the 3500 that was the targeted.
Methodists from the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak gathered for the first time across the Annual Conferences in such a manner. Behind The Scene, On The Sidelines

The success and impact of the Prayer Convention was indebted to many people who worked behind the scenes to make the two and half days as smooth and trouble free as possible. Many were working well before the actual day making sure the hall was ready, the bags filled with the right stuff, and everything in order....
The Ministry Team
At the end of each evening participants needing prayer and ministry were invited to come forward. Teams from the Conferences ministered in Chinese, English and Tamil respectively. These teams were gathered from various churches to minister to their respective groups. It was remarkable to see the unity in the common and genuine concern shown to bring the love and healing of God to these people.
One could sense the warmth and care shown to those who came forward. If there was a time that showed the personal and pastoral touch of the Convention it was during these times.

To Be A Blessing To The Nation

More than 10,000 people gathered at Stadium Malawati Shah Alam on Sunday, 2 September to celebrate together as Methodists and the nation’s 50 years of independence. Many churches from the different Conferences in the Klang Valley closed their Sunday service for that day and joined in the thanksgiving celebration. They were joined by not a few other churches from States in the north and south of the Peninsular.
The service reflected the diversity of the communities that make up the Methodist Church in Malaysia. In addition to a 500 strong choir, presentations from the CAC, SCAC, SIAC and TAC expressed the variety of hymns, songs and dances, languages and forms that made the worship a memorable one.
